Cindy and Joan Baez Together Again
source
Here is another shot of Cindy and Joan Baez. Everybody looks pretty miserable, but for some reason Joan is applauding wildly. Maybe
somebody just informed Baez that a store in Berkeley, California sold one of her cds.
Joan Baez is an acquired taste, like Birkenstock shoes, rusting Volvos and berets worn by men who have never been in the military.
the aging lefties love to settle down with a glass of expensive red wine and listen to vintage Baez on a cd (or better yet, on the original vinyl),
and remember back to the days when they had hair. The Vietnam war was in its infancy, Volvo had just opened its first US dealership
(in Berkeley of course), gasoline was about 22 cents a gallon and Joan and Bob Dylan were the king and queen of counter-culture music.
Singing mournful tunes that appealed to the stoned and the discontented, they plucked the heartstrings of a generation. Dylan has
reatained his iconic status, but Joan had simply become a footnote in history. A quick trip to Crawford, Texas cemented the deal and
St. Joan was soon back in the media spotlight. She didn't even have to update her message (trade unions - good, soldiers - bad).
like an old truck tire, she just keeps getting recycled.
