Lyndon Johnson wanted to appoint Thurgood Marshal to the Supreme Court, thereby creating the first African-American Justice. To do that, he had to create a vacancy on the bench. LBJ was very savvy and was confident that if he appointed Ramsey Clark as Attorney General, Clark's father, Associate Justice Tom C. Clark, would resign to avoid any conflict of interest. The ploy worked. Ramsey Clark was appointed on March 2, 1967. His father resigned three months and two days later.

Clark served until January 20, 1969, when President Johnson's term ended. He was in office for just over 22 months. Somehow the Liberal media has decided that he was a significant figure in history.

He is currently a part of Saddam Hussein's defense team. I think that says it all.
