* indicates that this Lefty has met with Cindy
They were big in the sixties, but for the most part they had faded into obscurity by the late 70's (although
Larry Gelbart kept his anti-war rant, M*A*S*H, running eight years after the Vietnam war ended, milking the cow
until there was nothing left). Jane Fonda lost interest in politics and started a new life as a fitness guru.
Even Walter "Iron Butt" Cronkite, gave up his seat at the anchor desk in 1984. Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are
only on this list because they are part of the second generation of the hate-America crowd, but like the rest
of the list their politics are far left but they'll chase a dollar bill down the street until they drop to their
knees gasping for air and sweating like a Clinton holding a Bible.
For most of these ideological dinosaurs, the fog of obscurity had completely enshrouded them. Then the Iraq war
opened in 2003. It must have been absolute Hell, wanting to leap into the spotlight but being so utterly
irrelevant that there was no interest from the media. Their salvation came in the form of Cindy Sheehan. Connect
with her and you connect with the media. Make the pilgrimage to Crawford or hook up at a demonstration in New York,
and you can bask in the warm glow of the spotlight for at least a few weeks.
Nobody quotes these people much anymore because they have nothing new to say, but Cindy has given them a new lease on life!
